Presenta un pelatge negre intens i uniforme, tant al cos com als crins, i sovint destaca especialment quan el cavall est\u00e0 ben cuidat perqu\u00e8 el p\u00e8l fa m\u00e9s lluentor. Aquest patr\u00f3 acostuma a formar grans taques blanques ben delimitades, sovint amb les potes clares i taques que poden travessar el llom. La capa overa es caracteritza per presentar taques irregulars blanques i de color que no solen creuar l\u2019esquena, mentre que la capa ruana mostra una barreja uniforme de p\u00e8ls blancs i de color que dona un aspecte esclarissat al pelatge.
